A large and playful mid century  British modernist oil composition of several figures on the metro in Paris, painted onto artist’s board.

The colourful composition has a fun, childlike quality to it that makes it  a joy to look at. Although seemingly simple and ‘naive’ at first glace, it is in fact a very well executed painting. The composition and use of colours is perfectly balanced, and very satisfying to look at. Despite the lack of realistic details or colouring, we very quickly understand what we’re looking at. The artist has captured an everyday scene of rush hour on the Metro, but has incorporated a wonderful expressionist style to the piece.

The painting is housed in a gilt frame with an inner linen lined border. The painting is in very good vintage condition. The frame has some minor scuffing to its edges.
