A beautifully ambient and restful modernist landscape composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

This mid-century oil depicts a pathway that leads to country houses that stretches across the centre of the composition, and a light blue sky at dawn above.

The artist has captured the qualities of the light so effectively, using short expressive brushstrokes that lend texture and depth to the painting. The transition of colours in the painting is gentle and soothing – from the soft morning light blue sky, to rustic colours of the country houses which are then transitioned to darker shades of blues and greens in the grass patch, followed by a light cream to depict the pathway.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner linen border and gilt window. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some minor scuffs.
