A brilliantly executed mid-century townscape, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The composition depicts a tranquil town, with rows of white buildings stretching out into the distance. In the foreground, two tall and slender figures portrayed with minimal detail, stand as silhouettes against the town. The artist has purposely simplified the architectural details of the town, reducing it to simplified blocks of contrasting muted colours.

The colour palette of the painting is limited to muted shades of white, grey, and brown. These gentle monochrome colours create a subdued atmosphere, evoking a sense of nostalgia and tranquility. The brushstrokes in the painting are soft and gentle, creating a sense of calmness throughout the artwork and enhancing the overall soothing aesthetic of the work. The overall minimalistic feel of the artwork makes it an easy piece to fit into a wide variety of interior settings.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner silver and canvas window. There is an area of craquelure present in the painting, as shown in the images, however the paint layer is stable and the painting is in good vintage condition overall. The frame has very minor areas of scuff.
