An outstanding modernist style figurative composition, executed in gouache and dated 1967.

The painting presents a group of figures dancing merrily and whimsically in a circle, in a lush landscape setting.

Containing elements of fauvism, the painting is characterised by rich colours as well as loose brushwork.

The colour palette is bold and vibrant, creating a visually stimulating and emotionally charged atmosphere. The use of expressive and dynamic brushstrokes gives a sense of spontaneity and immediacy, as if the painting is capturing a fleeting moment in time.

The painting is reminiscent of Modernist artist Henri Matisse’s renowned painting entitled ‘The Dance’.

This gouache painting is presented in a white card mount and gilt frame, and is glazed (there is a layer of glass between the frame and the painting to ensure its longevity). Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition. Please not that there the photos contain some glare due to the glass.
