A fun and playful narrative composition that presents a strong focus on form, colour, pattern, and perspective, executed in oil onto board, and dated 1961 on the reverse.

The scene unfolds with two men standing atop a scaffolding at an urban site.

The artist skilfully manipulates perspective and line to draw the viewer’s eye into the scene, as diagonal scaffolding lines intersect with the vertical structures of the building.

The rich palette used consists of varying shades of browns, blacks, and white, and these contrasting shades as well as repetition of geometric shapes and patterns add a sense of balance and depth to the overall composition.

This oil on board is housed in a beautiful wood frame with an inner gilt window border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
