A brilliantly executed modernist landscape scene in oil, painted onto canvas and dated 1961.

This mid century composition features a courtyard area surrounded by farmhouses. In the centre of the composition are a row of multicoloured mailboxes, which is typical of Sweden’s countryside where banks of mailboxes are centrally placed. The artist has pained in an expressionist manner – broad and loose brushstrokes are visible across the canvas, giving this piece it’s painterly style. The mailboxes seem to sit perfectly alongside each other, creating this tranquil countryside scene and capturing the beauty of the every day.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim dark blue frame.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor age wear.
