A beautifully ambient modernist landscape composition, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 1974.
In this scene, a wonderful evening light settles on the fam house, creating a soft glow through the picture. The artist has captured the qualities of the light so effectively, using short expressive brushstrokes that lend texture and depth to the painting. The transition of colours in the painting is gentle and soothing – from the soft blue sky, to rustic colours of the farmhouse which are then echoed in the grassy ground below with its highlights of yellow.
The painting is housed in an equally gorgeous deep profile gilt and linen frame which almost illuminates the painting from within. The painting is in very good vintage condition. The frame has some scuffs to the edges and some toning to the linen border.
