A beautifully textured and emotive mid-century abstract figurative portrait, executed in oil onto canvas.

The painting portrays a silhouette of a solitary male figure, bathed in a mix of orange, red, beige, and brown hues. The figure stands boldly against a subdued and soothing light-coloured backdrop.

Painted in an abstract manner, all realistic details including facial features have been purposefully omitted, lending an air of mystery and ambiguity to the composition.

The artist has used the power of brushstrokes and colour to highlight emotion. Expressive and painterly brushstrokes have been executed with vigour and confidence, adding a sense of dynamism to the piece. The artist has also skillfully applied thick and textured brushstrokes – using the impasto technique to create a visually raw and tactile three-dimensional surface.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim silver frame. There is some surface craquelure as shown in close ups, due to the thickness of the paint but this is not obvious due to style of the piece. The paint layer is stable overall. The frame has some very minor scuffs
