A brilliantly executed mid-century modernist style still life composition, executed in oil and dated 1954.

Featuring flat planes of colour, clean lines, and a myriad of shapes, this modernist still life certainly holds our attention.

With an array of objects laid across a table, our eyes are encouraged to span the long horizontal layout. Simple day-to-day objects such as a jug, some apples and oranges in a glass bowl, and a pitcher are brought centre stage by the artist, beckoning us to appreciate their individual forms and the way each shape, colour, and line communicates and juxtaposes with another to create this balanced composition.

This oil on canvas has been laid onto board, and is housed in a beautiful distressed wood frame with an inner white border that pairs wonderfully with the painting.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has widening present at its corner joins.
