A visually striking geometric abstract mid-century still life composition, executed in oil onto board.

The painting features a jug and some fruits placed across a red surface, and set against a dark muted green backdrop.

Drawing inspiration from elements of cubism and geometric abstraction, the artist has masterfully deconstructed and fragmented the scene down to distinct blocks of contrasting colours and bold outlines that interact with one another. Each respective shape seems to occupy its own distinct space, yet together they form a cohesive and harmonious whole.

The use of contrasting rich shades highlights the three-dimensional qualities of each object, whilst simultaneously emphasising the two-dimensional flatness of the board.

Furthermore, the expressive and distinct brushstrokes add a beautiful textural quality to the painting.   

This oil on board is housed in a stunning wide-profile  frame that further elevates the painting. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor paint losses but this suits its overall vintage look.
