A lively and brilliantly executed mid-century geometric abstract composition, painted in oil onto board in 1940s by the established Swedish artist Edvard Andersson (1891-1967), who’s artworks have been represented in several prominent institutions across Malmö, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and also at Helsingborgs Museum.
The painting presents a masterful abstraction of houses, with forms thoughtfully deconstructed and reduced into geometric shapes.
Rich bold tones of brown, green, and blue are harmoniously contrasted with lighter shades of pink, white and and yellow. Black and grey lines skilfully delineate the shapes, adding a rhythmic flow to the composition.
This oil on board is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. the painting has a small loss to the board at the top right corner (as shown), but is in very good vintage condition overall.
