A visually striking mid century modernist seascape composition of a harbour, executed in oil onto board.

The painting captures an open sea under the cloudy blue sky, with a few boats resting by the harbour. By the water’s edge, 2 figures are depicted.  The artist has skilfully reconstructed and reduced the scene down to blocks of contrasting colours to demonstrated depth and form to the painting.

The use of a spectrum of rich uplifting shades imbues the work with a lively feel, and the expressive use of rhythmic and horizontal brushstrokes further enhances the composition, infusing it with a dynamic sense of movement and flow.

This oil on board is housed in a well-suited silver frame with a slight red tint. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
