A lively and emotive modernist style landscape painting, executed in oil onto board and painted in 1953.
The artwork depicts a pathway surrounded by lush crops, that leads up to a red cottage. Leaning towards fauvism, the painting is characterised by an intricate arrangement of rich colours including blues and yellows. Although spontaneous and impulsive lines fill the canvas, each brushstroke has been thoughtfully executed and it imbues the work with a sense of dynamism.
This painting is housed in a stunning deep-profiled and heavy wood frame. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
