Characterised by strong colours and fierce brushwork, this painting carries many elements of the ‘Fauvist’ style. Here we have bold, non-naturalistic colours, and wild loose dabs of paint which add a sense of abstraction to the landscape scene. As we take in the scene, our eyes dance across the surface, following the different movements and colours that the artist has applied the canvas. There is a spontaneity to the brushwork that gives this painting its dynamic and lively quality.
This oil on board is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner gilt window. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
