Dated 1944, this mid century oil on board features broad, expressive brushwork and a post impressionist style. Reminiscent of works by artists such as Van Gogh, this oil depicts the natural landscape but has a more personal use of colour and brushwork that express an emotional response to the landscape, rather than a purely realistic response. There is a real sense of light and movement within the picture, created through a wonderful harmony of colours.
This large painting is housed within a wide profile gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some general scuffing which is commensurate with its age.
