A brilliantly executed abstract oil composition, painted onto board and dated ’96.

The composition features meandering outlines in black that intertwine and intersect, creating pockets that the artist has filled with rich, vivid colours. Each individual shape is therefore completely unique and distinct, while still very much part of a whole. Each shape has a role in the total organism, each one is holding the other up, supporting the whole. As a result the picture has a palpable energy – the forms and shapes almost appear to be moving around the canvas, shapeshifting and amalgamating. There is also an element of the optical effects of light and colour, almost reminiscent of stained glass.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffs including a small nick on the bottom which can be seen in the close up photos.
