A large and very atmospheric mid century modernist landscape in oil, painted onto canvas.

This moody, expressionist painting features an array of textured detailing, showing off the artist’s mastery of the medium.  Notwithstanding the dark and deep colour palette, the artist has skilfully created several layers of blended colour that give the painting an illumination from within that was hard to capture in the photos and is much more pertinent in real life. There is a glow from the painting that suggests that the scene is of sunset, just before the landscape loses its light completely. We love the little details such as the textured dots of pink applied to the lower half of the composition, alluding to little flowers in the grassy meadow.

This brilliant painting is housed in a gilt frame with green highlights around its outer edges. There are several inner windows, both linen lined and gilt. The painting and frame are both in very good condition. The linen section has some minor age toning, commensurate with age.
