A fantastic mid-century abstract cityscape, executed in oil onto board.

In this abstract composition, the artist has reconstructed a cityscape of buildings down to blocks of contrasting muted earthy colours, creating a sense of depth and space. The silhouettes of the respective forms have been highlighted with a bold outline, emphasising the shapes and contours of the city.

Expressive and painterly brushstrokes have been confidently applied to the canvas, imbuing the scene with a lively quality, and the muted earthy tones create a sense of warmth.

This oil on board is housed in its original mid-century linen-lined frame with an inner black and gilt window. the painting has some losses to its lower half, but the paint layer is stable. There are also some scuffs and marks to the painting, commensurate with age.
