A brilliantly executed mid-century still life composition, executed in oil onto board.

A group of fruit placed in a white bowl punctuate the centre of the composition. It is positioned against a well-coloured backdrop of contrasting blocks of colours with overlaying shades.

Long sweeping and expressive brushstrokes have been executed in a swift and confident manner, imbuing a sense of liveliness to the piece.

Through the masterful use of the colour gradient technique employing contrasting shades of green, the three-dimensional qualities of the fruits are enhanced and the overall composition is full of character.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. The painting is in very good vintage condition. The frame has some minor scuffing but overall the appearance is good.
