Blue Tableware
SOLD
A brilliantly executed mid-century interior still life composition executed in oil onto canvas.
The scene is set in a dimly lit interior that exudes a moody feel. The backdrop is a shadowy blend of dark brown and dark green blocks of colours. In the foreground, a table emerges, revealing a well-arranged array of still life.
On the table, a selection of blue-toned objects commands our attention. A blue plate and a blue bowl sit gracefully between a spoon and a fruit, its smooth surfaces catching the faint light. A blue pitcher stands tall and is partially illuminated.
The artist’s use of colour gradient is masterful, emphasising the three-dimensional qualities of the objects. The dark and muted palette, combined with smooth brushstrokes, creates a sense of calm and introspection, as if capturing a quiet moment at night.
This oil on canvas is housed in a stunning wood frame with silver windows, that pairs very well with the painting. The painting has some scattered craquelure present but the paint layer is stable overall.
