An iconic and attractive scene of a promenade in the marina of Alicante, Spain. Here, magnificent palm trees line the waterfront promenade, and beautiful catamarans and sailboats are docked by marina in the Mediterranean Sea. Featuring a brilliantly bold and fauvist-like colour palette, this painting is characterised by its fierce brushwork and simplification of forms. Complementary colours have been used side by side, injecting a real vibrancy and energy to the painting.
This oil on board was painted in 1951, and is by Swedish artist Brita Hansson (1918-1979). It is housed in an excellent vintage frame with several windows and a mix of different textures and colours. The painting is in excellent condition, and the frame has some marks and scuffs as seen in photos.
