The Lounger

The painting has a distinctly modernist, expressive quality, with the landscape simplified into broad areas of colour rather than carefully defined forms. Trees and shrubs dissolve into overlapping patches of green, chartreuse and yellow, while the chair is more deliberately articulated, creating a striking focal point amid the loosely rendered surroundings. This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim white-painted wood frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has scuffs.
