A richly coloured modernist winter cityscape composition, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 1965.

The painting presents a winter scene where rows of buildings in different sizes and colours and with snow-covered rooftops are neatly presented across snow-covered grounds and barren trees.

The earthy reds, mustard yellow and deep blues contrast wonderfully against the colder tones of the white snow, and captures the quiet, melancholic atmosphere of this industrial city in winter. The artist has also used expressive brushstrokes with areas of thickly applied paint, creating a textured and painterly composition.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary silver frame that illuminates it wonderfully. There is some light craquelure to the top section of the painting, as seen in close ups, but the paint layer is stable overall and the painting is in good condition. There is some scuffing the frame edges.
