A stunning winter landscape painted in subtle and mellow tones of brown, grey, and white, punctuated by two figures in the foreground. A simple yet captivating composition, made possible by the almost monochrome colour palette.

The figure on the left carries a pile of log in his arms, presumably retrieved from the shed he is walking out of, and a second figure next to him with her backs to us is about to do the same. They brave the stark, bitter cold (aptly conveyed by the colour palette that the artist has used) but we know they are soon to return home to a warm fire.

The panting is housed in a beautiful wood frame with an inner silver window that illuminates the painting wonderfully. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
