An exceptionally executed and very detailed mid century modernist landscape, painted in oil in 1945.

This painting is an absolute joy to look at, with a wonderful array of delicate details. There is a softness to the piece, created through the use of gentle, short intricate brushwork and a mellow palette.  A wooded landscape filled with silver birch trees leads our eyes inward to a river to the right side of the composition.  Little white flowers dot around the base of the trees, and a background of soft brown alludes to the woods going on far into the distance.

This picturesque and beautifully painted picture is housed in an equally stunning frame. This robust frame has a very deep profile and lovely distressed effect. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
