A restful and alluring mid-century modernist abstract landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

Well-balanced in composition, the bottom half of the painting unveils a vast expanse of open green fields and in the distance, a hazy view of a dark green forest emerges. In the top half of the painting, a blue sky with delicate clouds fills the canvas.

Executed in an abstract manner, all realistic details have been omitted and the artist has skilfully reconstructed and simplified the scene down to planes of contrasting colours and expressive brushstrokes. The use of loose and painterly brushwork breathes life into the landscape, evoking emotions of freedom and spontaneity, and wonderfully capturing the transient atmospheric conditions in that moment in time.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim cream frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
