A large and very well executed 20th century modernist style oil composition, painted onto canvas.

The artist has left out realistic details, reducing the landscape down to planes of colour that blend effortlessly into each other, while still creating a sense of depth and space on the canvas.  In the centre of the composition we see a group of farmhouses painted in vivid dark brown and white, creating a focal point and drawing our eyes inward initially. As we shift our focus to the lower half of the composition where the fields have been depicted, angular shapes in soft colours fit together seamlessly like a jigsaw puzzle. Despite the angled shapes,  there is a distinct softness to it that makes it very visually pleasing. As we move upwards, a woodland sits behind the farmhouses, giving the composition a wonderful balance and sense of harmony. The artist has used the colour palette very skilfully to full effect, giving the picture a wonderful luminosity.

The painting is housed in a simple gilt frame which suits it perfectly. The paining is in good condition. There is a light white vertical surface mark below the farmhouses, as shown in close up photos. The frame has some scuffing the left and top edges, but does not detract from its overall attractiveness.
