A wonderfully energetic and eclectic oil painting of a street scene, painted in a Naïve style.

A well dressed couple with interesting expressions on their faces stand waiting along the pathway with a row of quaint and colourful houses behind them. A black taxi is seen bumbling its way down the road, presumably to pick the couple up.

The artist has consciously chosen to eliminate realistic proportions as exemplified in reality – enlarging the scale of the 2 figures in comparison to their surroundings.  The vibrant colour palette as well as the swift and expressive brushstrokes used imbue the painting with a lively playfulness.

This oil on board is in good vintage condition. It is housed in a silver frame with an inner linen lining, with some very minor scuffs that are only visible upon close inspection.
