A large and very well executed modernist landscape in oil, painted in 1995.

Simple in composition yet complex in execution, the artist has used large planes of contrasting colour to create a sense of depth and space in the picture. Layers of colour have been blended skilfully, giving the paintings its bright and luminous quality. The artist has chosen to focus on form, shape and line in this composition, bringing our attention to the way the different elements (the house, the trees, the field and the lane) play with each other and almost fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

This very satisfying oil painting is housed in a gilt frame which complements it very well. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. There is some light scuffing to the left side of the frame, as well as a small area of paint loss to the lower right corner of the frame (as seen in close up photo). Neither of these imperfections detract from the overall attractiveness of the piece.
