A tranquil and visually calming modernist style landscape composition, executed in oil in 1953.
Realistic details have intentionally been left out, as the artist reconstructs this nature landscape terrain in a semi-abstract manner through the used of soft colours, flattened forms and expressive brushstrokes.
The painting demonstrates a subtle dance between colours, as planes of soft neutral shades including sand and green have been used to illustrate the distribution of crop across the terrain as well as to create a strong sense of depth and width in the painting.
Short expressive brushstrokes have been confidently executed in a rapid manner, and its textural qualities adds character to the work.
This oil on canvas is in excellent vintage condition. It is housed in its original mid century gilt frame with red undertones and with an inner linen lining. The frame has some very minor areas of marks commensurate with its age.
Size: 39 x 60 cm (including frame)
