A brilliantly executed mid century street scene composition in oil, painted onto canvas.

Reminiscent of the modern British painter L.S. Lowry, this painting also features an urban landscape peopled with small stylised human figures to the right side. The artist has used a restricted colour palette, using repeated but juxtaposed colours of cream, orange, grey and green. The forms have been flattened and the scene of buildings has been reduced down to large plans of colour. Interestingly, the artist has left details of the substrate (the canvas) showing through, which also gives this painting a ‘drawing’ or ‘illustration’ like effect.

The painting is housed in a very complementary wood frame with a linen lined border. The painting is in very good vintage condition. The linen border has some marks and the frame some scuffing, but none of that detracts from the overall attractiveness of the piece.
