Measuring over 1.2metres in heights is this sizeable mid century abstract oil composition, painted in 1956.

Large swathes of brushstrokes in planes of juxtaposing colour create a composition full of depth and texture. The angle of the planes of colour seem to make the painting recede inwards, creating an almost tunnel like effect towards the centre of the composition. The artist has used a wide brush, leaving the strokes of the brush on the canvas visible. We get a sense of the artist moving his arms as he swashes colour over the canvas in a considered way, bring careful to give each colour its space and prominence.

The large size, vivid colour palette and textural effect would make this painting a statement piece in any interior.

This mid century painting is housed in a very well suited frame. The painting has some light craquelure to its surface (commensurate with age and the thickness of the paint) but it is stable overall. The frame is also in good vintage condition.
