A very pleasant and gentle mid century modernist abstract landscape composition of the South of France, executed in oil onto canvas, painted in 1952.
This abstract landscape composition has been simplified down to coloured shapes in light and soft pastel colours including shades of oranges and greens. As we spend time to study the colours and play on geometric shapes, we can discern what appears to be trees and houses situated on a hilly landscape.
The short and soft brushstrokes pair excellently with the subdued and dreamy colours, enriching the painting with a harmonious and gentle feel.
This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
