An outstanding mid century still life depicting a vase of dahlias set against a patterned backdrop, executed in oil.

The painting is well balanced as although a lightly toned pastel colour palette has been used to imbue the work with an overall sense of calm and softness,  the bold and confident brushstrokes invigorate the work with liveliness and add a lovely textured effect.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary dark gilt frame. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition. The edges of the frame have some minor scuffs but these are not obvious unless closely inspected.
