The artist has used a wonderfully earthy and rich colour palette to depict this rural landscape, punctuated by rusty red cottages. A group of trees focus the eye to the centre of the picture, while melting snow on the ground encourages our yes to move around the painting and discover further details.  Expressive brushstrokes and a coarse texture add to the earthiness of the picture, and skilfully convey the character of the landscape and its rustic nature.

The painting is housed in its original mid century distressed frame, with gilt outlining. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
