A skilfully executed scenic road landscape composition, executed in oil in 1962.
There is a charming contrast between the top and bottom half of the painting. In the background – we see lush forestry in the distance set against moody and darker tones. On the other hand, the foreground of the painting has an array of colourful earthy shades and has more lively atmosphere.
The artist has reduced and flattened down the road and surrounding landscape into blocks of contrasting colours to create a wonderful sense of depth and width to the painting.
This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary dark wood frame with an inner linen lining. Both frame and painting are in very good vintage condition.
