A striking and very well executed mid century semi abstract composition, painted in oil onto board.

We can just about make out what appears to be a view of a port – in the foreground we see the form of a docked boat, with several cargo containers in the background. However the artist has worked under a largely modernist ethos, abstracting the scene down to several block of colour, using the contrasting tones to create depth within the picture. The painting has a beautiful texture too – each brushstroke distinct and perceptible.

This oil on board is housed in a beautiful gilt frame with a linen border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some wear in keeping with its age, and the linen border as some light age toning.
