A large and visually striking mid-century oil composition, that beautifully captures the essence of Fiskebäckskil, a charming coastal village in Sweden.

Painted in a modernist style, the artwork presents a vibrant landscape with a river meandering through the center of the painting, adorned with an array of boats gently swaying in the water. In the background, a cluster of houses perched on a hill adds a touch of architectural charm.

The painting is characterised by its bold use of a plethora of pastel colours that complement each other and that infuse the painting with liveliness.  Short, visible brushstrokes are also evident, creating depth and an expressive quality, enlivening the composition.

This oil on canvas is framed in a gilt frame which suits the painting very well. There is some light scattered craquelure as shown in the close ups, but the paint layer is otherwise stable. There is some light wear to the frame but this is in keeping with the style. Overall the appearance is very good.
