Upon first glance, our eyes are drawn to the darker and moody shades on the bottom half of the painting, and it then moves to the lighter muted shades on the top. As we take time to study its form, we can just about discern a house peeking out above a hilly landscape, as nightfall sets.

Expressive, painterly and unrestrained brushstrokes fill the canvas, and the artist has added a wonderful textural element to focus our attention on the dramatic composition.

The painting is housed in its original mid century frame with several contrasting windows, efficiently drawing our attention inward towards the painting. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
