A brilliantly executed typically modernist mid-century composition, painted in oil onto board.

The painting depicts a row of houses surrounded by trees in the woods. The artist has abstracted this scene down to flattened angular shapes that have almost been arranged on the board like a puzzle. 

A highly contrasting colour palette has been used – with dark and moody tones of browns and greens used to depict the woods, and lighter shades of cream used to depict the houses. The striking contrast in colour not only helps to create depth to the painting, but is also a powerful way to bring our attention to the focal point (the houses). 

The painting is housed in a well suited dark wood frame with an inner gilt and linen window. Both artwork and frame are in excellent vintage condition. Please note that there is some glare to the photos (particularly to the right side) due to the dark palette of the painting. There is no fading to the painting.
