A very large and very bold original mid century composition in oil, painted in 1967.

In this striking painting, a figure stands with arms held high, carrying a fish. Three birds circle the figure and fish, and a round, shining yellow sun shines down from the top right corner. The painting has been painted in a distinctly modernist style, taking influence from the simplified, stylised and monumental figures of Iberian and African tribal art and sculpture. The celebratory way in which the figure holds up his catch imbues this painting with such joy and exultation.

The large size, colour palette, texture and subject matter of this painting would make it a real statement piece in any interior.

The painting is housed in wide profile dark silver frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
