A vibrant and richly textured mid century composition in oil, painted onto canvas and dated 1950.

In this composition we see a small plot of gardening land, framed by a row of trees in the background. To the foreground we see various garden structures, including what appears to be a cold frame, a vegetable bed, and a shed. To the right we we a white structure – perhaps a green house. The artist has applied the paint thickly, creating areas of impasto where the paint stands proud from the surface and giving this piece its painterly feel. The brushstrokes are broad and distinct, and the artist has reduced the landscape and its structures down to simple geometrical shapes in rich and vibrant colours.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary slim wood frame. The painting has very light craquelure due to the thickness of the paint, but the paint layer is stable overall. The frame has minor scuffs.
