An exceptional mid-century modernist landscape composition, executed in oil onto board.

This delightful landscape composition presents tall trees growing in a lush forest setting. Semi-abstract in nature, the painting has been skillfully reduced down to blocks of contrasting  uplifting colours and expressive brushstrokes.

As we explore the painting, the wide spectrum of rich and muted colours used in this work draws the viewer in, and makes it a visual feast for the eyes. The artist displays an excellent understanding of colour relationship, as he layers and pairs contrasting shades using short and brisk brushstrokes, establishing a harmonious and well-balanced feel whilst adding a lively as well as a light textural quality to the painting.

This oil on board is housed in a period, wide profile light wood frame. There is some wear to the frame, along with some discolouration to the lower edge as shown. The upper edge of the frame has some damage, as shown. However the frame is still very attractive, and in keeping with the age of the piece. The painting has some paint loss to the left edge as shown but is otherwise in very good vintage condition.
