An exuberant and enchanting modernist harbour city streetscene, executed in oil onto board and dated 1966, by Swedish artist Uno Vallman (born 1913) whose works are included in the Swedish National Museum and The Swedish Modern Museum, to name a few. His works are also included in the collections of Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and the Tessin Institute in Paris.

Painted in a very distinctive style, this striking painting emphasises rich colouring and decorative pattern as it presents a cityscape with a harbour and a street scene filled with people and animals.

Vallman has used a plethora of lively colours, characterful dotted patterns and textured brushstrokes, infusing the work with an optimistic ambiance, and this fun and playful oil would make for a brilliant statement piece in an interior space.

This oil on board is housed in a well-suited grey frame with an inner gilt window. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
