Double Sided Portrait I

An intriguing double sided oil on board:  one side depicts a pair of women looking into a book, and the other side features a striking single portrait of a woman.

The painting of the two ladies with the book is very textured, with multi directional and distinct brushstrokes creating a very dynamic and layered image. On the other side, the portrait of the woman is smoother in texture overall, but still has a very three dimensional effect. The woman has an air of mystery about her, leaving us wondering what she might be thinking about.

Painted onto board, both paintings are in very good vintage condition and can be displayed on either side. There is some slight paint loss to the very edges of the board but certainly does not detract from the overall charm of either picture. It could be displayed in its current state on an easel or leant against a shelf.
