An outstanding and very confidently executed modernist style landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1957.
This landscape scene is punctuated by 2 barn houses – one in dark shades of browns on the left, and one painted white with dark outlines on the right, set against lush greenery.
Painted in a semi abstract manner and with rich earthy colours, swift and powerful brushstrokes dominate the canvas to form this very striking and lightly textured composition.
The painting is housed in a beautiful mid century frame that has a hessian lined border and an additional gilt window. There is some very slight age toning to the hessian section on the frame, commensurate with age and in keeping with the overall look. The artwork is in excellent vintage condition.
