A large and striking mid century modernist semi abstract still life in oil, painted in 1955.
Large and gestural sweeping brushstrokes contrast against thin, angular outlines in black. 2 bottles in the middle ground are discernible, alluding to the fact that the scene pictured before us is a still life of objects on a table. The artist employs some cubist elements too, flattening out the scene and incorporating multiple views to create this abstracted and fragmented scene.
The painting is housed in a painted wood frame, with visible grain. Both painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
