A beautiful and large mid 20th century oil portrait, set in a well-decorated interior setting.

The style of the painting is typically modernist in ethos, with the artist focusing on colour contrasts to create a sense of depth and space.

A mix of rustic earthy colours as well as rich tones of red, yellow and blue have been used to create this tranquil picture; and the distinct and painterly multi-directional brushstrokes adds wonderful texture and character to the work.

This oil on canvas is in excellent vintage condition. It is housed in a distressed wood frame with a deep profile and with an inner white window. There are small areas of paint loss to inner section of the frame on the left side but this does not detract from the painting.
