A seemingly simple yet very striking mid century modernist still life in oil, painted onto board.

A group of unpretentious and unostentatious objects sit stoically atop a table.  The artist draws our attention to the simple, clean shapes, set against the angular lines of the placemats underneath them, as well as the restrained colour palette. These everyday objects that are usually given no notice, are given pride of place in this composition, forcing us to enjoy the beauty of their simplicity, from the curve of the body of the tall vessel, to the juxtaposition of the object’s colours.

The painting is housed in a green wood frame with an inner linen lined border. The colours of the frame match perfectly with the colours of the painting, further enhancing it.

There is a small surface paint loss to painting as shown in the images, but it is overall in a good vintage condition. The frame has some nicks and scuffs to its edges, and there is age toning to the linen border.
