An original mid century semi-abstract coastal composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

The artist has added an aggregate to the paint, giving the painting a very textured effect. In addition to this, he has used thick swirls of paint creating areas of impasto which add to the three dimensionality of the painting. The gestural strokes give the painting a sense of movement, capturing the physicality of the wind and waves of the seaside.

Vivid colours fill the composition, from the orangey yellows of the sand, to the blues and whites of the ocean, as well as the the blueish greys of the sky. The artist has painted an outline of a figure to the left side of the composition, and has used a very interesting technique by making the figure almost translucent, as if he or she is almost at one with the seascape.

This oil on canvas is housed in its original mid century gilt frame with an inner linen lining. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some general wear and scuff, commensurate with age.
